Have your say on our draft Urban Design Guide SPD
The Royal Borough of Greenwich is updating key planning guidance to ensure new development in the borough is well designed, sustainable and inclusive. The borough’s new Urban Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) will provide guidance to help preserve Royal Greenwich’s unique natural and historic environment and improve its neighbourhoods and high streets. The SPD will provide useful design advice for all stakeholders, including residents, developers, design professionals, statutory and non-statutory consultees.
The Urban Design Guide will:
• encourage the design of accessible, sustainable buildings and places, which promote physical and mental health
• help to deliver net zero carbon standards for all major developments and protect biodiversity
• promote a ‘retrofit first’ approach to design, reusing existing buildings and structures wherever possible
• help residents in designing house extensions and alterations
